On April 25,2013, during sixth period, the six graders at our school did a great job on the stage in the roles of Ella Enchanted. Ella Enchanted is a wonderful play that involves a Princess, prince and a wicked witch. Congrats to our lead actors and actresses: Ella – played by Island Villa, Uncle Edgar – Andrew Hwang, King Florian – Jacob Wong, Char – Steven Fernandez, and Hattie – Stephania Ramirez

The story begins with Ella , who was given the gift of obedience by the well-meaning, but misguided fairy Lucinda. As a result, she cannot disobey a direct order given to her.  However, her mother Lady Eleanor and the family’s cook Mandy protected Ella throughout her childhood , so no harm can touch her. Ella was really  close to her mother, and they had many common things they shared like  the same free-spirited nature. One day, when Ella is nearly fifteen, Eleanor, her mother dies. At the moment where her mother’s funeral was happening, Ella meets and befriends Charmont (Char), the Prince of Kyrria.

Not long after her mother’s death , Ella’s father Sir Peter, had to  send Ella to finish school with Hattie and Olive, the daughters of the wealthy Dame Olga. Somehow going to school with the girls meant trouble. Hattie, one of the girl , soon discovers that Ella is unable to disobey direct orders and she takes advantage of Ella. The advantage had soon be discovered. At school, Ella became best  friends with Areida, a girl from the neighboring country Ayortha. That where Hattie takes the advantage of her. She orders Ella to stop being friends with Areida, Ella, who was scared, and took a ran away.  She then learns that her father is attending a giant’s wedding. After various difficult  misadventures, she finally finds Lucinda at the wedding and tries to persuade her to take back her gift. Instead, Lucinda unfortunately did not understand her and orders Ella to be happy with her gift. Upon returning home, Mandy reverses the order upon Ella.

After failing to find a rich husband for Ella, Sir Peter finally decides to marry Dame Olga, so he could pay off his debts. Ella, who renews her friendship with Char at the wedding, and start to write letters to each other frequently when Char had leaves on a diplomatic mission to Ayortha. When Sir Peter ,Ella’s father, he leaves to continue  on  his business, and  Dame Olga and her daughters had a good chance to take advantage of her too, so they quickly reduce Ella to being an obedient servant in their home. On the other hand, Ella and Char  start to fall in love with each through their letters, but Ella rejects him when she realizes her gift of obedience could be used to harm him. Helpless, Ella tricks Char into thinking she has eloped with another man, and left Char heartbroken.

Char returns back from his trip, three-night before the  homecoming ball which was held in his honor. Ella, who still loved him, went to the ball in disguise with help of Mandy and Lucinda, who now realized the terrible nature of her gifts. On the third night of the ball, she was dancing with Char, when a jealous Hattie unmasks Ella, forced  her to flee. Returning to the manor, she and Mandy attempt to run away, but are thwarted by Char’s arrival. Char not knowing of her spells, and orders Ella to marry him, which caused Ella to will herself to defy the order out of her desire, so she can protect him and the kingdom from her curse. She finally succeeds, and refused his proposal. Free from the spell, she accepts Char’s hand in marriage because she wants to, and they live happily ever after.
