A Christmas Miracle

Once upon a time there was a boy named Matthew, who lived in a beautiful house with his family. His house had two stories and a huge backyard. He always loved his backyard, but he said it would be better with a dog. He has 5 brothers and 1 sister, a dad and a mom. His whole family hates animals, especially dogs, except Matthew. Matthew had wanted a dog all of his life. He wished his family would love dogs like he did. If he ever had a dog he would name it Bone. He really seemed to like that name.  He said that if he ever had dog it would be his best friend.

A week before Christmas, Matthew was walking in the park, he thought he had heard something. It sounded like a bark. He heard the same sound again. “I must be hearing things,” he told himself. As he was walking into the woods he saw something brown. He walked over to see what it was. It was a puppy! “You poor little thing, where’s your mom?”, he asked. Matthew waited with the puppy for a while to see if his mom or owner would come back. No one came so he ran back to his house real quick and grabbed some chicken quietly out of the fridge. A few minutes later he was back at the park, the puppy was still there. He fed the chicken to the puppy, and the dog gobbled the food he was so hungry. Now the pup wanted more.

A little while later, Matthew was getting tired and realized he couldn’t leave the puppy there. So he decided to take the puppy to his house and let it sleep in the closet.

The next morning, the puppy was barking very early in the morning.  Matthew’s parents came in and asked “What is that?”  Matthew was still sleeping so he did not realize it. “I think it’s coming from the closet”, Mom said. So they walked in…. “AHHHHHHHHHH!!”, they screamed. “What is this pest doing in our beautiful house!”they yelled.

Matthew had explained to them what the puppy was doing there. He told them how dogs and animals aren’t so bad. They believed him. “Until you find the owner for the puppy, I guess we can keep him,” his parents said.

He couldn’t believe it. Finding a dog, and Matthew’s parents changing their minds about keeping a dog was a Christmas miracle!

It’s been a year and they never found the puppy’s owner. They kept him and named him Bone. The whole family loves dogs and animals all because Matthew found Bone. Bone and Matthew are best friends now, Matthew said, “It’s the best thing that has ever happened!”
