Holiday melodies got us in the mood for winter break. On December 14, 2010 Mr. Porush’s music classes performed in the wonderful winter concert. Many family members came to the performance and the place was full!
In the beginning the choir sang many holiday songs like Silver Bells, Christmas Song, Holiday Blessing, and silly songs like, Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer. Many people were amazed at how good they were, and many clapped and cheered. When they were done, the beginning band came in and took a seat on the stage.
The beginning band was a little larger than the choir. Some said they were nervous because this was their very first performance. The band had many instruments like the snare drum, the clarinet, flute, and trumpet. They kicked off with Red Book Melody. It was a pleasing song, and very loud! The rest of the songs were Amigos, School Song, and Go Tell Bill. The band was very excited and happy just to be there. The beginning band was mostly 6th graders, and a few 7th graders.
After that, the advanced band took the stage. This band was 7th and 8th graders. They started with Rudimental Regiment, a very relaxing song. Then they played Frosty the Snowman, followed by Chopsticks. The rest of the songs were African Noel, Silent Night, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. The advanced band was a little bigger than the beginning band, and they were confident and did a fine job. They played with open hearts, and seemed happy the whole time.
The crowd responded warmly. The choir, beginning band, and advanced band were awesome! The crowd clapped and cheered after every song! They loved seeing their kids on stage, playing the flute or singing. Parents watching had glowing eyes and happy smiles stretched from ear to ear.
