On February 7-9, 2014, twenty-one Magruder students joined Hull students at the Astro Camp near Idyllwild, in the San Jacinto Mountains.  Astro Camp is set on the edge of a beautiful mountain meadow and surrounded by pine forests.  The camp includes laboratories built for students to explore science and the natural world, comfortable dorms, and a large dining hall.DSC_8676

The Astro camp program was created to inspire students towards science while they strive toward their academic goals.  The program includes a hands-on physical science program focusing on astronomy and space exploration.  Some of the activity labs included Atmosphere and Gases, Light and Lasers, and a Mars Exploration Lab.  The most physical challenging activities included adventure and team building, like the Zip-line, called the Sky Coaster, and the Power Pole.

The students who went this year were Sarah B., Jenny C., Nick C., Glenn F., Kennedy G., Gregory G., Katherine H., Claire K., Drake K., Bryan L., Rachel L., Jessica N., Andrew C., Cort E., Safia K., Kailey L., Sara M., Jenny P., Catherine P., Jazmin S., and Christina S.  A big thank you to three of the adults from Magruder who chaperoned – our librarian, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Spellman, and Mrs. Nowak.
